August 9th, 2005

Well it was a long hard pregnancy and I wish I had the energy to actually have kept this blog ;)
I was diagnosed with placenta previa and had to have c-section so Jacob Vincent Kozlek was born on August 9th 2005 at 10:54 am. He weighed 5 lbs and 11oz.

He was so small, so precious... so absolutely beautiful. It's so hard to believe that it is 3 months later..The last few weeks have been insanely busy. Jacob is so much bigger, so much more alert, and still the love of our lives. It's hard to blog his life's story, as we are currently so busy living it ;) The best way to catch up with him, is to visit his website located here.

Fifth's Disease Scare

Well, fifth's disease is running rampant through the school hallways. I went to get a blood test yesterday to see if I need to worry about contracting it. Apparently if I had it as a child I have no need to worry. My mother does not remember me ever having it, but hopefully everything will work out. I'm not sure what will happen if I am predisposed to contracting this, it's spread through the air. Ug, well I'll post more when I find out more.

Our First Baby Pictures!

  1. I am currently 19 weeks pregnant and yesterday was our first ultra-sound. It was such an amazing experience. Just to actually see this baby that is growing inside of me. The first part of the exam was mostly taking measurements and seeing the baby's growth. It was hard for us to make out what was being done. But the second half of the procedure allowed us to actually make out the baby's side profile. We could see the baby's head and tiny little arms. At one point we actually got to see the baby rub it's head with it's little hands. I could have watched for hours. At the end of the exam the doctor tried to let us see what the sex of the baby was and took this image. Vin squeezed my leg when the doctor told us what he thought it was. It was so touching to see how excited my husband was. Though it's only a 90% chance of the sex.. It's exciting to think of our baby as an actual gender. Now we'll have to come up with a name ;)

baby icon

I did a search on Beatrice Potter in Google Images and this scary baby came up.
I should purchase some and create a mobile.

Jeremy Fisher

I always wanted to do a Beatrice Potter Nursery. I found a few websites with some cute related items. We still have no idea what kind of crib we want yet or where we want to purchase it. I did see one I liked at Babies R Us... but I'm not sure it will fit in the small room we have planned for the baby. We still have a lot of work to get the actual room ready (luckily we still have 6 months). I'm not sure if we are going to drywall over the existing walls or just work cosmetically. Vince and Grandpa will make that decision ;)

Baby's Heart Beat

At the last doctor's visit we were able to hear the baby's heart beat. It was truly amazing to hear and realize there is another human being inside of me. What a surreal experience!

We bought an at home listening device that allows us to record the baby’s heartbeat, but it apparently isn’t as strong as the one at the doctor’s office. When I’m further along I’ll tape and post our child’s first sounds. ;)

Old Navy

I'm in that awkward stage where my clothes are beginning to be too tight, but maternity clothes are still a bit too big. I bought some nice maternity pants at Old Navy of all places... They have a pretty nice selection. They are pretty loose right now, but I'm sure that will change by next month.

In other news I highly recommend Jenny McCarthy's "Belly Laughs" book for a new mom. It was really cute and funny… Easy Read for those first trimester nights when you are feeling awful. Her honesty and rawness of pregnancy is refreshing and amusing. It was a pleasant surprise.

So Sick

I feel soooo sick. Hopefully this phase will pass me by soon...

The only thing that is settling my stomach is a toasted bagel with cream cheese.
I have no idea why.

I have to start drinking more water.. :)

Dentist Appointment

Vince and I made appointments back in November to get our teeth cleaned today. Turns out that when you’re pregnant, there isn't much the dentist is allowed to do during the first trimester :)

I'll have to wait until either the second trimester (but not the Third!) or after our little one is born until my teeth are professionally cleaned again. I'll talk to my ob doctor about it in a few weeks, but I want to play it extra safe.
